BACKGROUND:
2000
11/14/00 Sue Smetana attended MT Night function at NTA. Brought 2 tours in 2000. Planning to bring 10 in 2001.

Met with Sue at NTA (PM): doing MRRT again; reviewed what's new; had a couple cancellations in 2000 tours due to fires.

TOOL Report
Yel/Teton/MT Rush-Jackson-YNP(2O/N)-Sheridan
Monana/Sun Valley - Spokane-Missoula(O/N)-Bozeman(O/N)

1999:
Met with Sue at NTA (PM): doing MRRT again, it is one of their best selling tours. GNP is not selling well in their CR tours, and she wants to combine GNP with YNP; clients want more free time in the schedule and time on their own. Needs YNP-GNP ideas; TM send GTP with Park itineraries marked. Deanna is no longer with the company.

1998:
Met with Deanna at ABA (M): still needs Boz hotel info, Pam contact after show for assistance.

Met with Deanna Hulting at NTA (PM): fam tour this summer on MRRT wasa success and they will continue it for 1999. Has some L&C interest since the company keeps tossing it around. Wants info on properties in Bozeman. TM send GTP with addendum, TP with Boz. hotels.

1997:
Met with Deanna Hulting at ABA (M): Wants L&C brochures and information. Had a great time at MT night at NTA and made some good contacts. TM send GTP, slides and L&C group and MT brochures.

Met with Deanna Hulting at NTA (PM). Their MT tour for 1998 which includes Idaho and MT aboard the MT Rockies Daylight is their best seller. Wants to do a fam in July.
Also met with Trip Bellows at NTA (PM), VP and GM of RFD Tours, a division of Mayflower. Are doing History Channel tours. Not looking at MT right now, but looking at Historial and agriculture side. Needs ag info and itineraries/programs, and looking for historical ppl and perspectives. Mentioned L&C and is very interested. Also interested in upscale historic hotels.

7/1: the only date Deanna and Sue Smetana can do scout on train is 7/25-26. Will contact Marcia Pilgeram at MRRT to book.

June 1997: Contacted Deanna about scout trip. She will check her available dates and get back to me. Wants to do a scout trip; tour actually begins in Boise (1N), Sun Valley (2N), Lewiston (2N), and Sandpoint or Coeur D'alene (1N), the board the train and travel to Livingston, coach to Billings, overnight one night there then depart the next morning. I'll contact MRRT and get available dates.

SEA: CR & GNP, 7 depatures. Calgary-GNP(2O/N)-Lake Louise

May 1997: Met with Mary Stachnik at Pow Wow convention May 1997. Have included the MT Rockies Rail Tour for 1998. Confidential- she doesn't want other operators to know since she wants to be the first one to produce a tour of this kind. The brochure preliminary will be done next month. The two ppl who are responsible for this package at Mayflower are Deanna Hulting, Tour Development Director, and Alice Gregory, VP of Operations. Biggest concern is air-discussed gateway city options. Their program people have developed "MT Rail Spectacular" a nine day tour, 15 meals included, 14 departures for 1998. MRRT and I need to contact Deanna, and send a GTPG as well. Mayflower deals with other companies-about 80, including international companies, travel agents and the bank market-wants fam capability for big producers. Talked about a fam this July or August for 40 ppl. I expressed concern about availability at this late date (she would provide air, TM and suppliers would provide the rest). Finally decided that a one or two person scout trip would be best, and plan the full fam for Aug. 1998. She presents a sales pitch for their 1998 product/tours to the Heritage Peer Grou conference in March 1998 for August 1998. Needs United Service so Billings would be Gateway, or Spokane.

1996:
Met with Sue Smetana at Fall NTA (PM): Interested in Montana Rockies Daylight, need dates for 97 & 98. Also Montana Blues Chuckwagon, need slides & brochures. Also Charlie Russell Chew Choo.

Met with Trip Bellows at Spring NTA (PM): Still running the YNP itinerary the same. they recently took over RFD tours and have 3 Montana itineraries. They will not be changing these for 1996, but may think about it for 1997. RFD is still running under the name of RFD, so need to talk to a RFD rep specifically for these itineraries.
