Making sure our visitors experience Montana authentically, understanding Social Media, the interests and motivators of Montana's target market – Geotravelers – and how all this ties into the new Montana Brand are the focus of the feature presentations at the 2009 Montana Governor's Conference on Tourism & Recreation. The conference is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, March 30-31, at Helena's Red Lion Colonial Hotel.

Nominations Requested for Montana's Tourism Awards

The Governor's Tourism Advisory Council (TAC) is accepting nominations for the 2009 Montana Tourism Awards. Nominations for Tourism Person of the Year, Tourism Community of the Year, Tourism Event of the Year and Tourism Partnership of the Year will be accepted. The deadline for nomiations is March 6, 2009.

New Brand Manager Appointed

The Montana Promotion Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Wong to the position of Brand Manager. Wong will spearhead the efforts to implement and communicate the Montana brand platform to all partners in the tourism industry of Montana.

Scandinavian Interest in Montana Remains High
|
|
Travel Montana attended the Reiseliv Trade Show held in Oslo, Norway and a Visit USA workshop in Stockholm with state staff from Idaho and North Dakota under the Rocky Mountain International (RMI) banner. The Reiseliv show produced 38 leads during the trade days and a popular stop for the Norwegians on the consumer days. Leads are now available from Travel Montana.

Celebrate, Inspire, Engage - this is the mission for the Glacier National Park’s Centennial Program. In the effort to promote this historic event, the National Park Service has many events, programs and projects which are being developed to inspire people to explore its land and discover the relevance and meaning of its million acres to their personal lives. Deadlines for contests and applications are approaching.

Electronic System for Travel Authorization
|
|
As of January 12, 2009, All Visa Waiver Program (VWP) travelers are now required to obtain a travel authorization via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to traveling to the U.S. under the VWP. ESTA is now accessible online at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov for citizens and eligible nationals of VWP countries.
