What’s in a Name?

Big Mountain Resort changes name to Whitefish Mountain Resort

In June, a "new" resort in Montana opened its proverbial doors, however, in actuality; its doors have been opened for nearly 60 years. The Big Mountain Resort formally changed its name to Whitefish Mountain Resort to clarify its identity and to communicate its unique offerings in the town of Whitefish and Glacier National Park.

Governor Brain Schweitzer has recently appointed two new members to serve on the Tourism Advisory Council (TAC).


Winter Guides Available

Hot off the press is the new 2007-2008 Montana Winter Guide.  The guide focuses on winter recreation – the activities, attractions and accommodations – that abound throughout Montana’s winter wonderland.


SEGP Increases Funding Pool

The Special Events Grant Program (SEGP) will increase its 2008 grant funding to $80,000, up from $50,000 in previous years. The application deadline will also be moved to Friday, December 7, 2007. Applications will be available beginning October 5, 2007.


Fire & Drought Update Available Online

Travel Montana creates a Fire & Drought Update during the summer to provide information to our tourism partners around the state and region about conditions that may affect visitors as well as local businesses. The Update also ensures that accurate and timely information is available to our partners and businesses concerning the fire and drought situations in Montana.
